Full Time Dave

I got a job!
A proper one that I have to get up early for, and wear a shirt...and...Shock Horror...shoes!

I am now a multimedia technician at the local university.
(For the next 10 weeks anyway)

Thanks Justin.

My peenis is always hard and is able to move without interruption!

...but that's beside the point!

Hangin' round...

Not going to Macau - I have been displaced by a European of some kind.

Bad - because I could have used the $$$
Good - because now I don't have to drop everything and leave with 48 hours notice

My Place

Again - it's another Google Earth thingy..

Sorry to those of you who don't have it.
If you have a computer that's relatively new I can highly recommend it..

Earthdance 2006

This year Earthdance was held close to Mandorah, which is an hour or so drive from Darwin...about 130 kms each way. Seemed to be a very different vibe this year..quite a few backpackers (we met more than just a couple of whinging poms, one even told Claude to fuck off!)

Not sure why it was like that this year..maybe coz they were handing out random flyers to people at the markets..maybe they needed more $$ this year?
Definitely seemed to be less local crew there.

For me the music itself wasn't much chop - pretty much was trance right from the word go (8pm or whenever we arrived)
I heard there were going to be live acts, but that never happened.

But overall it was a fun camping mission with friends.
Mick and I cruised there in the might Datto (yet to be properly named). We had no problems at all - convoyed it down with Justin and Nic who were on their bikes.
Kat and Claude came later in their own vehicles.

Datto Power - with lots of seating room in the back..BMX bike storage up top!

The beginning of the night's entertainment.

Kat made her own light show
(No pictures of the actual dance party area - not many of us even hung there for long.)

Sunrise, Sunday morning.

Juz with his special pillow.

Claude crashed just before sunrise..on a dune on the beach

Trippers frolicking.

The Mick-beast emerges.

Coffee anyone?

The gang...but wait...where's Claude?

"Zzz Zzz"

This car got bogged in a big way!

All the way out there in the middle of the sand! I wonder who could have been driving it?

'nough said!

Kat and the foot of fest.

I love my Datsun.

Compulsory Sterilisation

"The most well-known compulsory sterilization programs were those of Nazi Germany (which sterilized over 400,000 individuals in the 1930s and 1940s), the United States (which sterilized over 64,000 individuals from 1900s through the 1970s), and many Scandinavian countries. Sweden sterlised the highest proportion of their own citizen, 62,000 individuals from the 1930s through the 1970s within the population of +6,000,000 where it was made condition for receiving welfare, release from institution or prisons or keeping custody of children."

Is it only me who's surprised by the US and Sweden being in this list?

(I read it on the internet, so it must be true!)

The Datto!!

You know it baby - I bought another Datsun!
I couldn't let this one go off the road - so I paid Andy the $91.90 that it owed him for the remaining registration..and now she's mine...

We just drove 270 kms going to Mandorah and back...
No problems except for the weird driveline banging noise which led Andy to ditch the beasty.

I am looking for a new gearbox and tailshaft..but this may have to wait a bit as it seems I am GOING BACK TO MACAU for two to three weeks...casino work again...

Stay tuned..

Apologies...

...for my supreme lack of actual content lately.
For some reason this blog appears to have degenerated into a noticeboard type arrangement, where I am just posting random snippets of dubious interest.

I will try harder!

It's 1:35am on Friday the 15th of September, 2006.
I'm a bit pissy.
About 10 guys have just left my place - we had chess here tonight as part of the ongoing Thursday night rotating tradition. (Moveable feast kinda thing)
I only played 1 game, against Ben Mc...it was a scrappy kind of thing which I ended up losing quite suddenly, after an hour of halfhearted manoveuring.

Sophie is staying as Casa de la Vaughton for a few weeks, she's up here from Melbourne doing a work placement thingy.

It was Simon BB's birthday today...plus Unky Vince's (Which reminds me...time to call Toronto and say hello)

At Happy Yess tonight there was a ping-pong/table-tennis tournament tonight. Apparently Daniel came second..congrats and stuff.

I just found a second hand and recently-rebuilt (supposedly) SD33T engine on ebay. It _may_ be the answer to my problems...I was looking at $4k or so for a full rebuild for Mr B. This one is around $1k plus shipping. Fingers crossed.

Um...

This coming weekend is Earthdance, at the all-new location on the other side of the harbour. Looks like it could be a winner this year.

Jodi was here recently...she left just under 2 weeks ago..a whistle-stop tour from Thursday morning to Sunday night..was waaaaaaaay cool to catch up with her. Haven't seen her since June or July 2003 in Toronto.
I think I fall in love with her every time I see her...

I'm starting to get a headache - time to crash.

This has been a Dave stream-of-consciousness blog entry.
Hopefully this isn't so bad that I'll feel compelled to delete or edit it when I'm sober.

Peace..

(I just wanted to have a blog post with that as the title.)
