Compression
Oh yeah - got Mr B comp tested...here are the results (for your reference and mine, in case I lose them)
1 250 psi
2 280 psi
3 280 psi
4 210 psi
5 260 psi
6 210 psi
Apparently the injectors are completely shot, and there was water in #2
The head is going to come off this week I hope.

10 Days Off
Hmm, must have gotten busy elsewhere.
This weekend just gone I tried to get into BassInTheGrass, but security was too tight - no fence-jumping for me!
Kongo was on Saturday night.
I have been womanising again.
I'm sick at the moment, same weird upper GI thing.
I've just bombed 2000 mg of Metronidazole
Same again for the next 2 days...hopefully will be bug-free without total suffering from the side-effects.
Happy Yess is going amazingly well - painted, floors de-tiled and sealed, lighting and aircon repaired.
It's gunna be a good thing.

Super Freak
This is from Google video, via the Beastmaster:
(Broadband probably a good idea)
Trading Spouses Margaret freaking out
Um
I had something to say here, but the bulk of it escapes me.
Went camping on Monday/Tuesday.
Blew the crap out of the remainder of my exhaust manifold gasket.
Mr Brown is now VERY loud.
Also his reg expired last week.
So I've decided to take him off the road and begin the work that I've been avoiding.
Bodywork:
Cutting out rust.
Converting any remaining rust.
Welding and/or filling holes.
Priming and painting.
Remove pinstriping and decals
Window rubbers and trims.
Paint rims?
Find and fit roofrack
Electrical:
Second battery and charge circuit.
Full re-wire of electrical system, replace relays etc.
Repair glow-timer.
Fit turbo timer?
Some kind of fail-safe to stop me giving myself flat batteries all the time.
Replace aircon rheostat.
Stereo
Engine/Drivetrain:
Compression test.
Remove, overhaul and replace injectors.
Drain and flush fuel system.
Replace manifold gasket with correct turbo-duty gasket.
Inspect turbo and overhaul?
Oil and filter change
Air filter
Snorkel
Replace all diff and gearbox fluids
Suspension:
Replace all bushes.
Full lube job.
Check springs.
Steering:
Front end alignment
Column lube?
Fluid change
Servie P/S pump
Check all ball joints etc, fit additional grease nipples?
That'll do for starters

Damn!
Just had to tip 22 litres of glorious beer down the sink :(
(It woulda been glorious if I wasn't too busy to bottle it...I left it in the fermenter a wee bit too long and it has just the _slightest_ touch of pond scum on the surface.)
I was contemplating bottling it anyway - likely would have been fine - but a man has to have his standards, you know.
It's a relatively small loss in the grand scheme of thing, probably something like $15.
Only the second brew I've ever lost mind you, the last one was due to be bottled on the 1st Jan, I wasn't even sober until the 3rd...same result.

R.I.P. Grant McLennan
Only just heard about this...a big loss.
Many of Grant's songs were part of the soundtrack to growing up in Australia, circa 1980s.

Wow - after 20 years of procrastination, I just passed my (Foundation Level) Amateur Radio Operator's Certificate of Proficiency.....or whatever it's called.
To give you an idea of how much nerdy radio stuff I know (plus how easy the test was), consider the following:
I got 3 out of 25 wrong..one of which was me ticking the wrong box, the other was a b/s question, and the 3rd was a guess.
I finished it in 10+10 minutes instead of 30+30
I didn't study for it at all, the last time I did any of that crap was years ago.
I dunno if this is a good or a bad thing...

Farrand Field 4-20-2006 (Big Brother, big time!)
"150 photos of people who were on Farrand Field during the annual 4 -20 marijuana-smoking event were posted online last week by the University of Colorado Police Department."
(Apparently the uni or the cops is giving a reward for people who ID anyone from the pics!)
Where I come from, we call that dobbing.

Darwin Weather
Weather.com.au - Darwin Weather
(At the time I posted this it is 29C max and 21C min...but if you're reading this at some point far in the future from May 2006, that link won't be accurate)
See how the temp is actually dipping under 30C max? That there is the Dry season!
I have been waking up shivering at night - from the 22C cold! (I'm not making it up - other Darwinites will back me up on this)
After a wet season - this is sooooo cold!
I didn't feel like this the first Dry I was here - I thought it was fine..went swimming lots...
Now when I hear people talking about wanting to swim, I can tell they must be new arrivals :)
I just had a deep thought about how not only this page with it's ephemeral weather link, but the whole blog, is a kind of time capsule aimed at the future.
I think I will go to sleep now!

Welding
Yes, for about the second time since 1992 I'm off to do some higher edumacation!
I'm doing a nightschool welding course.
Soon the nutty professorism will begin!

Happy Yess
Sweeeeeet!
Finally we're gunna get a decent independent live music venue in Darwin!
A few friends of mine have been trying to get this off the ground for almost a year now.
The liquor license has just been approved, so watch this space for more info:
A new live music venue for Darwin: www.happyyess.com
Feel free to link to the above site in your blogs etc; I'm starting a bit of a PR campaign to get it ranked decently in google.

Nim Arrives
It appears I have enticed at least one poor soul into the blogosphere.
Welcome Nimal.

Welcome to Earth, Tulley

Here you see me with that fabulous fellow Nimal - we're toasting Bron and Damon's new son Tulley.
(I know, a picture of the baby would be more relevant, but I'm just working with what's available...)

Brewing
is still happening at a feverish pace though.
I just started a wheat beer of some desciption, and bottled another batch of pale ale. If my sums are correct, I now have 196 longneck bottles of beer in varying stages of maturation. (147 litres of joy!)

May is the month of no drinking...
Yes - you heard it here first.
I'm off the piss for the duration of this month.
I'm thinking that the more public I make this resolution, the more chance I have of sticking to it - I can't handle copping shit for not achieving something I said I would.
I'm crook at the moment - but that has nothing to do with my newly found sobriety.
Some kind of virus thingy, feeling tired and headachy etc etc...
Anyway - Happy May Day.
I was planning on marching today, but I feel so crap I can't stand up for more than 5 minutes.
I did go to an ACTU fundraiser on Saturday night, it wasn't much chop...maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I was fighting fit. I also hung in Kongo for a bit, had a few light beers and lemon-lime-bitters - in preparation for May, perhaps.
Oh yeah I went to Dinah briefly on the way home.
This month is going to be interesting...either that or hellishly boring.
As Talking Heads said - "Good time to get some thinking done."
Dave
