Viking Stuff

So the first night I spent here, we went to a "Viking Funeral"!! Pretty trippy huh? It was at the Dinah Beach cruising yacht club. Many Vikings were in attendence, with their Wenches. (Their words, not mine) The highlight of the night was the funeral, the yachties had made a mockup "boat"...a raft with sails basically, all lashed to a few 40 gallon drums.

As per age-old tradition, the boat was floated out from the shore, and then lit by flaming arrows (In theory anyway...after about 20 arrow-shots, they ran out of arrows, and the head viking/yacht club commodore had to wade out and light it with his torch)

These photos suck (too bright for my phone-cam) but they're all I have.

New City, New Look

Yeah I know this page now looks shit, but get over it :)

So I managed to get up here, literally last-minute as usual. I was still packing boxes at 4pm, and I had to be at the airport at 7:30pm. I also had to meet Ben R for beer and dinner inbetween!

So thanks to Aldo for the lift from FTG to Yarraville.

The last couple of weeks were a bit weird, I got stuck in vampire mode (again). Normal get-up time ranged from 12 noon to maybe 3pm. I'm not sure if this was some kind of avoidance tactic, so I didn't have to deal with mum-related stress....? Spent a lot of time Ray's place...mindlessly netsurfing and scoobing.

Anyway, I'm now in sunny Rapid Creek, Darwin.

(It's about 3500 kms from Melbourne I believe)

I have a struck a deal with Nic, I'm gunna stay in his spare room for a few monoths, for the bargain price of $60AU/week!

Hopefully by the time wet season kicks in I will have sussed out what I want to do with regard to permanent living arrangements.
A few options, but I won't bore you with the details at this stage.

Hope the weather is good wherever you happen to be.

Wireless fun

Hi gang!

I've been busy avoiding packing for my move to Darwin.
Started to play around with some wireless networking stuff.
My blog for all the techo-fun is here

In other news:

Booked my flight to Darwin, I arrive 12:20am on Saturday the 24th July. I start work on Monday the 26th.

Had fun today drilling open the case of a second-hand computer I bought this week, it didn't come with any keys.

T I S M A..R..E.. SHIT

Ok to understand the title you had to be there...

A fun night was had by all, I ended up moshing shirtless like a fiend for most of the gig. Various humorous incidents occurred, but I'm not going to go into detail coz they make me sound like a crazed stalker type fan.

Photos will eventually be here.

After the gig Ben, Pete and I headed to Pony along with a fellow freak we met outside the HiFi Bar. We finished up at about 7am, walked to Flinders Street and grabbed a train. After falling asleep _twice_ we eventually made it back to Pete's for a 10am crash.

TISM

Ok, TISM is the order of the week it seems. Went on Wednesday night, it was good. First time I have seen them in such a small venue for ages. It was a bit weird at the start, they were actually smiling (through their balaclavas) and shaking hands with the punters before they started. Lots of old songs from GTS and earlier albums. Green, Beanz and one of their mates were there, as well as Ben R and his cuz. Drank a lot of beers afterwards, decided I like the Tote a lot. Shame I haven't been there more over the last 6 months...probably one of the last good live venues in Melbourne.

Stayed at Greenus' place then dragged my sorry unshowered hungover arse around Fitzroy/Collingwood before finally heading out to meet Robbo at Glen Waverley. Drove around while he did his job. He's not in such a hurry to bail to QLD now, it seems. He's found some of stability/routine. Maybe I'll get that sooner rather than later.. NT will tell.

Anyway, we spliffed it, went for a cruise and I ended up staying at Ray's. Headed to Pete the Fink's place in the early evening to prepare for TISM proper, the big gig at the Hifi Bar.
